Blood donations and HIV helped to inspire our startup. You can read that story here. So to recognize the ninth annual World Blood Donor Day, weâ€™re encouraging you to donate blood if you can. Itâ€™s not for everyone, but for those who are able, itâ€™s a rewarding, quick way to help save lives.
Because in 39 countries, blood isnâ€™t screened for transmissible infections like HIV or hepatitis. And in 47 percent of low-income countries, blood is tested in laboratories without quality assurance.
