Stoufferâ€™s Lasagna Italiano is being recalled nationwide by NestlÃ© Prepared Foods because the boxes may actually contain stuffed peppers.
Two consumer complaints tipped off NestlÃ© to the problem. The company thinks the mix-up might have occurred when the lasagna packaging boxes remained in the packaging machinery when the company began packaging stuffed pepper entrÃ©es.
While the packaging error might be frustrating for consumers, the recall also stems from undeclared allergens. The stuffed peppers contain Worcestershire sauce made with anchovies, a fish allergen not declared on the lasagna label.
The recall affects more than 16,500 pounds of food.
