Two recent recalls for sleeper ottomans for similar reasons raise eyebrows, but not concerns.
Two weeks ago, LTD Commodities recalled fold-out sleeper ottomans that could collapse under normal weight. The press release listed Perfect Generation World as the manufacturer.
Today, Improvements Catalog recalled fold-out sleeper ottomans that can also collapse. The release doesn’t list a manufacturer.
Carl Purvis at the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said that while he couldn’t confirm, it looked like there was a connection just from looking at the press releases.
While the two recalls name different retailers, importers, distributors and manufacturers, a spokesperson for Improvements Catalog said their ottomans were in fact not manufactured by Perfect Generation world and that their distributor, JN Bailey and Associates, is also their manufacturer.
Neither Improvements Catalog nor the CPSC could confirm a connection between the two recalls for the same product for the same reason, so chalk this one up to coincidence.
