Ground Hog Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday meaning six more weeks of winter. So hunker down with ConsumerBell and take a look at this week’s recalled products.

You might be getting cozy with these hurricane style lights. The internal wiring can short circuit posing burn and fire hazards for consumers who own them. Nantucket Distributing is recalling the lights in the Midwest, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic. recalls this week, recall roundup, recall news, aveeno baby lotion recall, britax car seat recall

Nantucket Distributing is also recalling holiday candle warmers; the warming bowl is positioned too close to the tea-light candle and can catch fire. The company has received one report of the warmer catching fire causing a minor injury to the consumer’s hand.
Baby lotion might not be a good idea to help that tender wound, though. Johnson & Johnson’s Aveeno brand recalled Calming Comfort baby lotion. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found high levels of bacteria in a lot of the lotion, however third party laboratories weren’t able to confirm those results.
Also in the baby sector- Britax recalled Chaperone car seats that have faulty harnesses. The company said it would provide repair kits to affected consumers.
Repair vehicles by Columbia ParCar are a different recall, though. The utility vehicles and golf carts have a steering yolk that can loosen causing the driver to inadvertently crash the vehicle. The recall affects about 1,400 vehicles. If winter weather means you have to take your snowmobile out instead of your utility vehicle, check to make sure that it’s not affected by the Arctic Cat recall of about 19,000 snowmobiles that have faulty tie-rods.

Office supplies took a hit in recalls this week: Overheating Konica Minolta printers were recalled- printers will either be replaced or, in the case of some models, a service agent will repair the printer. Decorated power strips under the brand Lush Life were recalled because of undersized wiring; the wiring and plastic strip fail to meet standards for fire resistance. And Hewlett Packard recalled more than 1 million fax machines that can overheat. HP is aware of seven incidents of the machines catching fire.

Overarching floor lamps imported by a division of Williams-Sonoma were recalled because they can short-circuit and pose a shock hazard to consumers. Also in the living-room: fold-out sleeper ottomans manufactured in China were recalled because of faulty welding joints that can cause the piece of furniture to collapse under normal weight.

Also from China, dried sardine anchovies and dried yellow croaker are being recalled; the fish are un-eviscerated, which leaves consumers at risk of botulism; un-eviscerated fish have been linked to outbreaks of botulinum poisoning.

Tremella by the brand Zhang Zhou is being recalled because it may contain undeclared sulfites, posing allergy risks. Tremella is also a product of China.

Bin-Bin Snow Rice Crackers, one by Gemini Food and Tong Enterprises and the other by President Global. The crackers contain eggs which are not declared on the label.

Also in food, Walgreens is recalling chocolate-covered raisins because the package may accidentally contain a mix of peanuts, soy, and almonds. Pine Ridge BBQ Sauce by Herbadashery is being recalled for undeclared anchovies.

Beef sirloin, which would have gone perfect with that BBQ sauce, was recalled for undeclared milk, and 18th Street Deli Julienne Salad was recalled for listeria contamination. Lastly, and also for listeria, hard-cooked eggs by Michael Foods have been recalled. Wegmans Foods issued this recall separately, as well.
