The Only in the Alley calendar is the idea of CEOs Cliff Lerner and Chris Mirabile and showcases some of New York City’s hottest tech startups in the hopes of drawing attention to the breadth of talent and promise the east coast has compared to California’s Silicon Valley.
“Our goal with the calendar was to foster a strong technology community and presence, something often overlooked for traditional industries in the city, so the recognition from Mashable is huge,” said SNAP’s CEO Clifford Lerner.
“We took steps to ensure five of the twelve featured companies were founded by female entrepreneurs, because women-owned businesses are a burgeoning force in the startup scene and are projected to account for one-third of the new jobs created by 2018.”
The tech community loved the idea. Mashable wrote about it and the launch party for the calendar was a huge success.
“While the calendar is clearly a bit tongue in cheek, it does mark the culmination of a big year of development for New York’s broader tech scene,” says Mashable reporter Adam Ostrow.
Our very own Stephanie Haller shot all photos for the calendar, including the photo above of CEO Ellie Cachette.
