Ice cream lovers across the country should check their freezers today. Kroger announced the recall of Private Selection Extreme Moose Tracks ice cream that contains peanuts, an ingredient not listed on the label.

People with peanut allergies could have life-threatening reactions after eating the product, says the FDA, and should return the ice cream to the store they bought it from for a full refund.
Kroger distributed the ice cream to Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, portions of eastern Missouri, Ohio

and northern Kentucky, South Carolina, and eastern Tennessee. No other states are affected by the recall.Kroger will use its recall notification system to alert consumers who may have bought the ice cream, using “register receipt tape messages and phone calls,” says the FDA statement.
The recall also includes Kroger stores in Illinois and Indiana that operate under the following banner names: Jay C, Food 4 Less (Chicago area), Owen’s, Pay Less and Scott’s.Kroger was not able to comment by deadline on how exactly their notification system works.
