A couple weeks ago, we got a flood of retweets from @beajumarangDLSU and even some direct messages about the recalls we tweeted about. What we discovered, though, wasn’t a spammer but a super engaged college student from the Philippines.
What?!
Bea Kylene Jumarang isn’t like most students. I don’t know what college you went to, but Bea passes free time by writing academic and informal essays, reviewing literature and writing oratorical pieces. Bea also maintains the Global Thoughts blog with commentary on international relations.
What?!
This student from Imus, Cavite studies international relations with an emphasis in European studies at the De La Salle University in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
We asked Bea to talk about the ConsumerBell experience and what it means, and this is what we got.
___
One would think that products from U.S. shores would hardly reach a country a continent away. However, we’re living in a world where everything is connected to everything else already, and we’ve seen the power of technology as it applies to the world’s citizens and economies.
As a student of international relations, I’m immersed in the interconnected nature of the globe more than a lot of others in differing fields. All that said, let’s turn to ConsumerBell. That is what this post is about, after all, right?
I discovered ConsumerBell after a rather lengthy Google search which somehow started with international relations
literature and ended with consumer products. Now, I’m naturally cautious about buying stuff, no matter what sort of stuff it is. Naturally, I gravitated toward what ConsumerBell had to offer: information, and lots of it, too.
After a few days, I began to actively check my Twitter feed for updates from the ConsumerBell account, telling my parents about recalls, alerts and all manner of other product updates. ConsumerBell has become a habit, and of course, a great one at that.
From my perspective, ConsumerBell provides an extremely streamlined, efficient and innovative approach to product safety, one which I think has unlimited possibilities if it’s kept on track. I’m sure though, that with the right people and the right methodology, all those possibilities can translate into amazing realities, ones that can change the landscape of consumer safety and the way companies do good for the public.

Thanks, Bea!
