Good morning sunshine! Shake off the tired…literally! The best thing to do in the morning is simply shake off the tired, and shake out the running thoughts about your daily schedule.
In just a few easy moves, and a few minutes you can make the morning exhilarating, so let’s go!
1. Jumping Jacks. Take a note from your kid’s gym class, jumping jacks actually give you a full body workout! This is a good way to maintain your adrenaline from the initial morning shake. Start with a set of 15, and as they get easier, increase the count.
2. Freestyle boxing. We’re no Manny Pacquaio (ask the man in your life, he’ll know who Pacquaio is) but that doesn’t mean we can’t have firm arms like him. Put your body in a power stance with your feet shoulder width apart. Your shoulders should be in a strong square frame. Pick up 3-5 lbs weights and jab your left arm straight first and alternate between arms for a 12 count.
3. Push-ups and Yoga. Every day at 4pm, wherever the ConsumerBell team is, we each do 10 pushups. You can join in on the fun, too! Begin with a set of 10, and work your way up. Be sure to keep your back flat and breathe. Breathing is very important during any type of exercise. Breathing relieves the physical stress of the workout and creates an overall state of relaxation. If you feel tired in between, hike up your pelvis and go into the downward dog. This yoga pose will help you stretch out your arms, back, legs, and help begin toning your abs.
4. Sit ups. Work that core! As women, the core is usually one of the hardest areas of our body to tone, yet building your core assists with toning the rest of your muscles. Remember to keep up your chin up to take away the strain of your neck and back. Begin with a set of 25.
5. Side bends. Here is where we gain back those toned curves! We’ll go back into our power stance and bring one arm at a time over our head. It’s important to keep your core locked as you bend, sometimes we have a tendency to sway towards the bend. Begin with a set of 15 for each side separately.
You’ll be the envy of all your friends and just in time for beach season! Some more tips to follow throughout the day: Keep hydrated, drink some water! Walk to the office or take the stairs if your early. As always, before embarking on any sort of exercise program, consult your physician to make sure everything’s a-ok.
