Apple recently announced a recall of a small number of iPad 2’s on the Verizon network because of connectivity issues.

Apple said that a very small number of iPads received duplicate “Mobile Equipment Identifier” codes, which are used to identify a piece of equipment when it connects to a network. No two devices can have the same identifying code.

Reports surfaced around the Internet late last week about Apple stopping shipment on the FedEx deliveries and sending them back to the manufacturer in China.

Apple appears to have taken care of the problem before the iPads got into the hands of many consumers. They’re replacing affected units with new ones that will be able to connect to networks without problems.
