There is another recall of Fresh Express salads and it’s not surprising. I’m almost tempted to start a scoreboard on our homepage, something like a recall counter per industry or company.
We have projects in development, so its possible.
The latest recall is for 2,825 cases of its Veggie Lovers Salad with the product code of I208 and use-by date of Aug. 10, which means it was probably already eaten. “The salad is being pulled from shelves after one package tested positive for the bacterium in a sample test conducted by the Ohio Department of Agriculture.” No illnesses have been reported, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.
The salad mix was distributed to retailers in Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Kansas, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Other states include Nebraska, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Minnesota, Virginia, Vermont, New Hampshire and the District of Columbia.
This is the third Fresh Express recall since May. Salmonella was found in Fresh Express salads in May and last month Fresh Express recalled salads due to E. coli contamination,
Fresh Express is a subsidiary of Cincinnati-based Chiquita Brands International Inc.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
