Smilemakers Inc. have recalled about 68,000 Children’s Happy Charm Bracelets and Football Rings distributed in doctor and dentist offices nationwide for high levels of cadmium.

If ingested, cadmium is toxic to young children and can cause adverse health effects.

The bracelets and rings were made in China and distributed by Toy Network and the Oriental Trading Company between June 2005 and March 2010. No injuries have been reported.

The recall involves “Happy” charm bracelets and football rings. The “Happy” charm bracelet is comprised of colorful beads on a small elastic band with a metal butterfly, moon or sun charm. The football ring is a small adjustable metal band with a metal football charm.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and throw it away.
